As it happened to be the last year of gThe United Nationfs Decade of the Handicappedh, the paintings by the handicapped were recruited from all over Japan. In response to the invitation, there were 1,557 entries from all over Japan. From them, 100 works were selected and exhibited with the works by the handicapped people from 14 countries of the world, including Europe, America, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. This exhibition was organized to contribute to the normalization and the realization of a welfare society, hoping that, through paintings, a firm communication will be extended regardless of handicaps , the difference of language or social manners, and that people will be truly aware of the meaning of gliving togetherh on the same earth.
